CAW is hosting a scavenger hunt for specially painted hydrants.
Organizations across the country are finding unique ways to celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States of America. Central Alabama Water (CAW) joined the fun today with a scavenger hunt to find specially painted, Star-Spangled hydrants spread across its service area.
Each business day at 9:00 a.m. from Monday, July 6 through Friday, July 17, CAW will unveil clues on its Facebook and Instagram pages. You can participate in the hunt by taking a selfie with one of the hydrants, posting it to Facebook and/or Instagram, tagging CAW and using #USA250CAW. For each hydrant you find, you’ll earn a chance to win a $250 gift card. The winner will be announced Monday, July 20.
About the Star-Spangled hydrants
These hydrants feature much more than special paint. They are 6” hydrants which provide 30% more water flow than standard 5-1/4” hydrants and up to three fire trucks can connect to one hydrant. This makes them an ideal choice to be located near large structures which can benefit from the increased water flow. The hydrants are manufactured by American Flow Control, a division of Birmingham-based American Cast Iron Pipe Company.
Scavenger Hunt Rules
Time period: July 6 through July 19 at 11:59 p.m. CT
Winner announced July 20
- Follow Central Alabama Water on Facebook and/or Instagram.
- Like the daily scavenger hunt post.
- Post a selfie with the hydrant, tag CAW and use #USA250CAW.
- Photos must be taken by the individual submitting it into the contest.
- Only one entry per person per hydrant is allowed.
- The more Star-Spangled hydrants you find, the more entries you have.
- CAW will randomly draw a winner for a $250 gift card and announce it July 20.
