The award recognizes Central Alabama Water’s dedication and contributions to the AMWA.
Central Alabama Water was recently named a sustaining member of the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies (AMWA). The award recognizes Central Alabama Water’s dedication and contributions to the AMWA and being a member for 25 years. The award was presented Monday, October 27 at the AMWA’s Executive Management Conference in Austin, Texas.
“This award shows the system’s commitment to continuous improvement,” said Mac Underwood, General Manager of Central Alabama Water. “Management and staff have learned a lot from peer organizations over the past 25 years. We’re committed to serving customers and providing safe, affordable drinking water. We look forward to learning from our peers for many more years to come.”
Underwood is a past president of the AMWA and served two terms on its board of directors.
Over the years, Central Alabama Water has earned numerous awards from the AMWA.
- Gold Award for Exceptional Utility Performance, 2003
- Platinum Award for Utility Excellence, 2006 and 2012
- Sustainable Water Utility Management Award, 2015, 2019 and 2023
Central Alabama Water joins the Montgomery Water Works and Sanitary Sewer Board as the only AMWA sustaining members in Alabama.
